On Sylvan Road
One of the things we love about producing this magazine is getting to know the many and varied layers of the people in our town. You never know what lies behind those with whom we cross paths as we go about our business – volunteering, working, taking care of our families, playing our sports, pursuing our interests and priorities. There are so many amazing stories waiting to inspire us, educate us, expand our perspectives …and so much humility keeping them from being told. That’s where we come in and we thank every one of our cover story subjects to date for trusting us to put the spotlight on them. In this fall issue, we salute the Eenkema van Dijks and their incredible business. You won’t believe what they’ve been up to all these years and how it’s changing the world. May it move you as much as it did us.
We’re proud too to bring you this month’s Giving Back feature about Darien’s A Better Chance program. Most certainly courage comes in many forms and we are all better for the bravery that brings the ABC scholars to our town.
What a blast it was getting to know the women behind The Granola Bar for this month’s Good Table feature. Our mouth watered just writing the story about this new restaurant in town. And what a cool story behind the launching of that business!
We point your attention as well to this month’s Mind Set column. There are some great thoughts there from The Depot’s upcoming workshop leader Chuck Hatchett about helping our young people conquer anxiety.
These articles and more await you in the pages ahead and they come with our best wishes for a great fall as we settle back into school and the adventures of a new program year.
Thank you to all our contributors including Linda Stephens (In Good Health), Carolyn Eddie (Darien Cooks) and Tom Geary (Art Show), and to the advertisers who make it possible for us to produce this magazine for Darien by Darien for you.
Please, share your thoughts with us at pam@darienmagazinect.com or carl@darienmagazinect.com.
And be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram @darienmagazinect.
