Oh that brunch and those afternoon oysters and Sancerre at their bar …or catching a game, with a good IPA and their tuna tartare; there’s the casual night out, or the special dinner planned far in advance …the average lunch elevated or a drink at the end of a long week. You go with your spouse or friends and, more often than not, a good time gets better, buzzing with added energy as so many people you know stop to say hi, drawn to this place by the same vibe that brought you in, the kind that just makes you feel better, about everything.
This and more are what you get at Ten Twenty Post at 1020 Post Road in the middle of Darien. The living’s good there with a menu to match and whatever you like about this place, you can make your own, multiplying it and the vibe that comes with it for gatherings big or small. Many do—for showers and “sprinkles,” reveals and luncheons, dinner parties and after parties, business lunches, open houses, and all manner of milestones including weddings and graduations, baptisms, birthdays and more.
Managing partner David Nelson calls it “exclusive dining.” We call it a great way to capitalize on the great food and service, the wine, drinks and setting that make his place the signature restaurant in Darien—an opportunity to put your own stamp on the Ten Twenty brand while leaving the work to David, his staff, and the open warmth and perfectionism that drive his hospitality.
“Our family has been going to Ten Twenty for Sunday brunch and family celebrations ever since they opened all those years ago,” said Hayley Ackers. She and her husband lived in Darien from 2004 to 2017 and though they now live in Wilton, they held their daughter’s wedding brunch there in September 2022. A baby shower followed in October 2024.
“Both David and the staff are so accommodating and helpful,” Hayley added. “The chef was very happy to oblige my daughter’s very specific asks for the wedding brunch. That really was fantastic!” she continued.
With its many different spaces–outdoors and in, it can shift to match any occasion. “The space is great both inside and out and with the various different table sizes, shapes and heights, it makes for a very versatile space to create an event,” said Hayley.
Best of all, David cares, really cares, treating every event as his own. Want to use his space for a dinner party? He’ll work with you to carve out a spot and create a menu unique to you. He’ll even customize the place settings to your taste. Maybe you’d like a buyout for a wedding reception, an open house or company party? He’ll do that too. He’ll even turn over the bar for an after party. His authentic desire to make sure you have as great a time as he has creating it for you infuses the place, and all the special events at Ten Twenty Post.
